Book Review: Slim Aarons - "Style"

Slim Aarons: "Style" collects some of the great photographer's most powerful images from the 1940's through the 1980s.
This book features Slim's portraits of models, actresses, socialites, artists, and designers; he also photographed other iconic entertainers at their homes and backstage.
Each carefully composed image demonstrates how Slim captured his subjects in flattering light and captured their portraits at their best.
Featuring over 180 full-color photographs, many of which have never been seen publicly before, "Style" is an elegant addition to any coffee table.
In an era of modern-day photographers capturing images to be shared on social media sites, Slim Aarons was the original influencer. During his prolific career as a  photographer for LIFE magazine, he provided a unique perception to the world of fashion & luxury by capturing images through carefully set up but candid shots – a style that defined his work.

Aarons’ images manage to transport us to an Oscar Wilde-esque world of glamour and excess, where the men wear impeccably tailored suits and the women wear silk lounging pajamas by the pool. But for all of his flashy subjects and seemingly carefree atmosphere, Slim Aarons was a serious photographer who did much more than simply capture wealthy socialites living in extravagant estates.
